Understanding Medicare Competitive Bidding and Accreditation Requirements for Home Infusion Pharmacies
The competitive bidding program and the new accreditation requirements for infusion pharmacies that participate in Medicare Part B have presented many challenges, both in understanding and complying with the new rules and regulations. This audio conference will assist you in demystifying the competitive bidding process—and give you solid guidance on accreditation requirements, as they pertain to home infusion pharmacies.
Program Description:
Hear a comprehensive review of the statutory and regulatory bases for competitive bidding—and how competitive bidding is designed to work. Included will be eligibility requirements for bid submission, the process for evaluating and rewarding bids, protections for small companies as well as preparation of a bid proposal and proactive steps to take if the organization is not awarded a bid contract. The program will also outline accreditation requirements specific to home infusion pharmacies that participate as Medicare Part B suppliers.

- Compare and contrast accreditation requirements and timelines for pharmacies and DME suppliers mandated by the Medicare Modernization Action (MMA).

Faculty Bio:
Denise Fletcher, Esq., is an attorney in the Health Care Group of the Amarillo, Texas based law firm of Brown & Fortunato, P.C. The firm’s Health Care Group has a large national health care practice with clients throughout the United States. The Health Care Group represents durable medical equipment companies, pharmacies, drug wholesalers and re-packagers, long term care facilities, home health agencies, hospitals, physicians and other health care providers.
The Health Care Group represents clients in the areas of advising on fraud and abuse issues; defense of criminal and civil fraud investigations; defense of qui tam actions; corporate compliance; HIPAA compliance; competitive bidding; accreditation preparation; mergers and acquisitions; joint equity arrangements, affiliations and alliances; reimbursement issues, including audits and requests for overpayments; supplier and provider number issues; requirements pertaining to licenses, permits and certifications; survey certification and licensing issues; peer review and credentialing; pharmacy compounding; Food and Drug Administration regulatory issues; hospital operational issues; hospital medical staff relationships; and hospitals/health care organizations in transitional environments.
The Health Care Group works closely with the Department of Justice, Office of Inspector General, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, National Supplier Clearinghouse, Durable Medical Equipment Regional Carriers, Food and Drug Administration, and other federal and state regulatory agencies. Ms. Fletcher has authored numerous articles and is a frequent lecturer throughout the country. She has an Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration from the University of Washington, and received her law degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Law. Ms. Fletcher is licensed to practice in Idaho, Oklahoma, Texas, and Washington. She is Board Certified in Health Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
